As part of its theme year on “Rebuilding,” MUSE (My “U” Signature Experience) will welcome Chris Wilson to campus on April 14, 2022. As a teenager, Wilson was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Now, he is a successful entrepreneur, storyteller, artist, and social justice advocate.
The University of Utah is one of 53 new institutions to be designated as a First-gen Forward institution by NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and the Center for First Generation Student Success. The center was launched in 2017 with a mission to advance the success of first-generation students through evidence-based practices, professional development, and knowledge-creating for the higher education community. Members of the First-gen Forward cohort are committed to first-generation success and are given the opportunity to engage with national institutions and regional colleagues within the NASPA network.
The Bennion Center is thrilled to announce this year’s Bennion Center Faculty Award Winners, Professor Leticia Alvarez Gutiérrez, of the Education Culture and Society Department, College of Education, and Professor Steven Bartlett, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering. This year’s Public Service Professor Award winner is Professor Ana Antunes in the School of Cultural and Social Transformation, Gender Studies Division. The Office of Undergraduate Studies is thrilled to welcome Dr. P. Brandon Johnson as the associate dean for student success and transformative experiences. He joins the U from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he served as an associate dean in the Office of Undergraduate Education.
Undergraduate students from the University of Utah, along with students from Utah State University, will showcase their research for Utah lawmakers and the general public on Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the rotunda at the Utah State Capitol.
