The major emphasis of a B.U.S. degree must be thematic, interdisciplinary, and not
similar to any existing major offered at the University of Utah.
The student must have at least a 2.5 GPA to submit a proposal and must maintain that
average until graduation.
The degree is meant to be prospective rather than retrospective. This means that the
student should have at least 30 to 40 hours remaining to be taken (including hours
currently in progress) when submitting the proposal.
Prerequisites for all proposed courses must be either listed as course work in the
proposal or waived in writing by the appropriate department chairperson before the
proposal is approved.
