January Staff Shout Outs

McKenna Rogers

McKenna is making a big difference for our students! McKenna supported phone calling campaigns, where she made hundreds of phone calls. There is so much information to know when answering questions from students. McKenna asks good questions to learn more about university resources and policies. So glad she's part of our team!

Cassidy Heacock

Cassidy and her team lead a call campaign for warning and probation holds contacting nearly 250 impacted students. I was impressed with her attention to detail and willingness to tackle more complex student situations, even learning advisor tools and student record intricacies in the process.

Her proactive approach and attention to detail have kept everything in a large office running smoothly. We are so lucky to have Cassidy on our team!

Devon Darland

Devon has been great to work with. I can tell that Devon puts a great deal of effort into making the Herriman Campus a success. She has done a lot to positively navigate working with both the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College to best support students in Herriman.

Leslie Garavito

Leslie has been instrumental in contacting students with active holds on their accounts. She has made hundreds of phone calls, left many, many voicemails, and spoken with dozens of students to get them connected with the right office or person. Leslie is always kind, helpful, and patient on the phone. If she doesn't know the answer, she will absolutely find out and get back to the student! Leslie is the best!

Shelby Peterson

Shelby is the hardest working human I've ever observed, constantly tweaking processes for max efficiency. She always brings her best self, even when no one is watching. Her joy and energy are infectious. I am incredibly lucky to work with her.

Angie Leiva

Angie goes above and beyond for the OUR team. Her pro-active engagements with campus partners and students—even recruiting students beyond Utah to participate in research at the U—are notable! She has increased the number of applications to OUR's summer programs. Her wit and focus are also admirable.

Madeline Rencher

Madeline has been a steady ship in what has been a rocky sea of transition for both our office and our team. As the leader of my team, she has been a calm captain at the helm. She has always been and continues to be an amazing advocate for me, providing helpful guidance and offering feedback at every turn. She has settled into her new leadership role with the grace of a queen, and I continue to be impressed by her explicit supportiveness.

Amanda MacKay

Amanda is truly an exceptional advisor for students. She's handled a number of tough situations recently and she's done so with professionalism and care. She has a natural relatability but also exudes expertise in her appointments. I see her work and I'm consistently impressed.

Roya Tahmassebi

Roya has been super helpful lately! Any task or event I’ve needed help with, she’s been ready to jump in and support. She’s the definition of a real MVP and team player. So grateful for her!

Cristina Reyna

Since joining our office this summer, Cristina has already made such a positive impact within the advising community. She is quick to offer her support or knowledge to assist a colleague, and volunteers her expertise without being asked. Thank you Cristina!

Emily Johnson

Emily joined the advising community this summer and has added so much to the office already! Emily is always looking for opportunities to learn more about and visit with campus partners for future collaborations to help support our student. We are grateful to have Emily as a part of our office!

Julia Vincent & Madeline Rencher

So much gratitude to these two colleagues who are helping to connect my team with major exploration materials and helping to cross-train us so we can think about extending major exploration into the pre-college space. Thank you, friends!
