Sam Dutton
Sam Dutton is a grad student at the U, majoring in educational psychology. He will
be graduating with his PhD this Spring. Dutton has served as a Teaching Assistant
for master's and doctoral-level statistics and research methods courses for three
years, a Research Assistant for the Reading Lab and the Applied Cognitive Regulation
Lab for four years, and a Graduate Research Fellow for the Center for Teaching Excellence
for two and a half years.
Dutton utilized the Student Success Coaches, Community Engaged Learning, Academic
Advising, TRIO, and UROP during his time at the U. He shared that he met his graduate
advisor, Dr. Anne Cook, through OUR, and she has been a primary source of support.
Later in Dutton’s PhD program, he began working as a Graduate Research Fellow for
the Center for Teaching Excellence.
Dutton describes himself as “insatiably curious” and motivated to achieve his goals
while actively involved in the community. He enjoys data science, hiking, biking,
climbing, calligraphy, cross-stitch, international coin collecting and is a part of
the queer sports community.
After graduation, Dutton will work as a Data Coordinator for the Utah State Library
system.
