Marlen Martinez Perez
Marlen Martinez Perez is a graduating senior with a degree in parks, recreation, and
tourism from the U. Martinez spent her undergraduate years juggling various roles
within Undergraduate Studies programs. She was the Vice President of the Crimson Transfer
Honors Society, involved herself in First Gen, and served as a Transfer Mentor. She
also volunteered with Utah Athletics for soccer and volleyball, something she enjoyed
due to her passion for sports.
The programs, Martinez shared, contributed to her personal and academic growth. Through
her experiences with them, she learned the importance of resilience and how failures
play a role in shaping individuals into who they become.
Martinez said that she received support from her fiancé, parents, and siblings, who
always encouraged her to chase her dreams. Paul Fisk also offered support to Martinez
by dedicating himself to transfer students, sharing that he enhanced her undergraduate
experience. Roya Tahmassebi was Martinez's Student Success Coach and a guide throughout
her educational experience.
After graduation, Martinez will work full-time as the event marketing coordinator
with Miller Sports & Entertainment.
