7-yr and Interim (3- and 5-yr) Learning Outcomes Assessment Reports
In 2017 the University of Utah passed new policy (see 6-001: III.A.2.b.ii.C) that requires units to have a Curriculum Management Plan and to conduct program-level student learning outcomes assessment at 3- and 5-yr interims during the existing 7-year cycle and then to submit a curricula review report in the 7th year.
There are links below for templates for the 3- and 5-yr review reports as well as one for the 7-yr report. The 7-yr document also asks for additional details about each unit's decision-making structure and process.
[One of the requirements of the new policy is that copies of the interim and 7-yr reports be provided to the Office of Learning Outcomes Assessment as well as one's own college. Coming soon will be a link for uploading your interim and 7-yr Learning Outcomes Assessment Reports.]
Assessment Report Templates
The questions for both forms are listed below. You are free to turn in responses to the questions on the reports below using whatever method you prefer. Feel free to use the provided templates to complete the report through an online form which will then be submitted to the Office of Learning Outcomes Assessment for publication on their web page.
7-year Learning Outcomes Assessment Report
- Describe your program’s process for making curricular decisions. [This is a narrative description of the workflow that you submitted to the curriculum management office when your program was approved]
- List the program’s expected learning outcomes
- Describe the plan for assessing effectiveness in achieving those expected learning outcomes
- Summarize the assessment results over the past 7 years, referencing 3- and 5-year interim reports
- Describe changes implemented as a result of interpretation of the assessment reports
- Attach the 3- and 5-year interim reports
