TRANSFER PATHWAYS

This website is intended to serve as a resource for faculty and academic administrators to assess and improve transfer pathways to the University of Utah. The website serves as a resource for existing transfer pathway improvement efforts underway between the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). Approximately 40% to 45% of all transfer students to the University of Utah come from SLCC.

Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah Present the 3rd Annual

Virtual Transfer Summit

No pre-registration is required. Zoom links are included in the agenda.

Download the agenda.

All members of the SLCC & UU communities are invited to participate in the Virtual Summit.

BACKGROUND

Under the leadership of Presidents Huftalin and Watkins, 2019 kicked-off growth and increased collaboration between Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah in transfer articulation activities. Early in the year, stakeholders from SLCC and the U of U met to candidly and collaboratively discuss the current status of transfer and articulation between institutions. The charge moving forward was to create shared transfer and articulation design principles, common transfer term definitions, and a template for articulation agreements. The culmination of these activities was the first annual Transfer Summit held at the Alumni House at the University of Utah where faculty and academic administrators from SLCC and the U of U met for a day to engage in the challenging and rewarding work surrounding transfer. Moving forward, we strive to listen to students and to support faculty to strengthen, develop, and document transfer pathways.

LONG-TERM OBJECTIVES

  • Develop 4-year and 5-year transfer pathways at the program-level between SLCC and the University of Utah.
  • Create new articulation agreements and strengthen existing articulation agreements.
  • Every U of U Bachelor’s Degree program should have a 4-year and 5-year pathway from SLCC and every SLCC Transfer Associate’s Degree program should lead to one or more U of U Bachelor’s Degree program.

TRANSFER PATHWAY DEVELOPMENT

Building from Phase I, SLCC and U of U are continuing to support the development of articulation agreements and transfer pathways in Spring and Summer 2021. Phase II include the development of the 14 programs listed below.

Programs are asked to create or update  (1)  a program-level articulation agreement; and (2) a 4-year/5-year transfer pathway for the program. Draft documents should be completed by September 15, 2021.
